Tunnel Six returns to the music studio this Saturday, April 27th at 8 pm.  There will be no advanced “reservations” for this gig – tickets are rush at the door – admission is $12 Adult/General $7 for Students.  The band tells me that if you quote the discount code “ASSINIBOINE” at the door, the general admission will be reduced to $10 and the student admission will be reduced to $5.

Tunnel Six is a sextet comprised of some of the most notable up and coming jazz musicians from various cities in Canada and the U.S.  The group was formed when its members were attending the International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at the Banff Centre in Alberta in May 2009.  Tunnel Six is Chad McCullough, trumpet/trompette (Seattle), Ben Dietschi, saxophones (Toronto), Brian Seligman, guitar/guitare (Toronto), Andrew Oliver, piano (Portland), Ron J., bass/contrebasse (Halifax), Tyson Stubelek, drums/batterie (New York).

The music studio is the first stop on this tour in support of the newly minted CD.

January 2013 marked four decades since the legendary rock band KISS was born. Forty years later, having racked up 28 U.S. gold albums along with 40 million U.S. and 100 million in world sales, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, with longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, return stronger than ever.

Released in late 2012, through Universal Music, Monster marks the 20th studio album in the band’s historic career. The 12-song (plus bonus track), straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll album features collaborations from all four members in an effort that shows KISS at the top of its game. Monster is the group’s first studio album since the band’s 2009 smash success Sonic Boom, and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, CA, and The Nook in Studio City, CA.

Daly House museum hosting an evening of theatre!

Daly House Museum is partnering with 7 Ages Productions for a night of Canadian Theatre. It’s Saturday, February 9 a t 8:00 PM at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at BU. There are two plays. The first is Paper Wheat, a light-hearted play about immigrants in rural Saskatchewan at the turn of the 20th century. The second is Wayne and Shuster’s hilarious parody of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Rinse the Blood Off My Toga. (Brutus hires a private investigator to solve the murder.) All proceeds from the performance go directly to Daly House Museum.

Actors include Christine Penner, James Warnez, Tara leach, Colin Evans, Genista Buhler, Randy Lilley, and Miles Crossman in Paper Wheat, and Andrew Mok, Kai Choy, Stephanie Buri Choy, Randy Lilley, Alanna Downey, George Buri Sr., Ryan Neff, and Colin Evans.

There will be refreshments and a talkback after the show.
